ASTRA - Ilaria Dando Lab
Welcome to the Dando Lab!
The scientific interest of Dando Lab is divided into two different projects, from neoplastic to andrological diseases.
Concerning the study of cancer features, we mainly aim at the characterization of cancer stem cells (CSCs), which play a central role in tumorigenesis, radio/chemo-resistance, development of metastases, and relapses in many types of cancer. Particular attention is paid to the study of the metabolic characteristics of these cells in pancreatic, lung and testicular cancers with the aim to identifying specific alterations, useful for the discovery of new early diagnostic markers and for the development of new effective therapeutic strategies.
About andrological diseases, we apply a biochemical and molecular approach to study, in an innovative way, the activation of pathways by the treatment of primary testicular and gubernacular cells with human chorionic gonadotropin and the intra-cellular alterations that characterized sets of patients affected by cryptorchidism, testicular torsion, and infertility.

News!
Our lab is incredibly proud to celebrate the successful PhD defense of our colleague, Dr. Sara Vinco.
Sara’s dedication to her research and continuous commitment to excellence have significantly defined her professional journey. We are honored to have been part of this chapter of her career and look forward to her future contributions to the scientific community.
Cheers to a brilliant achievement!
New Publication Alert!
We are proud to share our latest research paper, now published in Cancer Drug Resistance.
Our study explores how the protein TRAP1 regulates mitochondrial function and oxidative metabolism in cancer stem cells (CSCs). Unlocking these molecular mechanisms opens new avenues to overcome drug resistance in oncology.
Congratulations to the entire team and our collaborators for this achievement!
